Dennis’ Horseradish receives Safe Quality Food Program certification, opens doors to international markets
Norfolk County, Ont., November 2, 2021 – Dennis’ Horseradish, the premium, small-batch horseradish brand, announces it has received its Safe Quality Food (SQF) Program certification, a trusted and rigorous food safety and quality control program recognized by retailers, manufacturers and food industry experts internationally.
“When you’re up to something good, you welcome the scrutiny, it pushes you to be better,” says Mark Whitmore, COO and co-owner of Dennis’ Horseradish. “This was a significant investment and journey for us. Our message to the world is simple – trust Dennis’ for a quality product made by passionate people who love making food that adds taste to your life. With a mission like that, how could we not work hard and take our processes seriously?”
Recognized by the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI), the SQF Program requires producers to establish a food safety management system to ensure they meet the highest possible standards that are put under review through an annual audit. Now a SQF-Certified site, Dennis’ Horseradish is planning further expansion.
“We are focused on servicing all industry segments, from bulk orders with food manufacturers, foodservice providers and hospitality players to private label opportunities, retail and other commercial buyers, nationally and internationally,” says Mark Healy, CEO of Dennis’ Horseradish. “This certification is another important milestone in the life of Dennis’ and one we’ve worked hard to reach. And it has already enabled us to fulfil two large food manufacturing orders, one in Canada and another in Asia.”
Dennis’ most unique factors are its full control over the end-to-end harvest and production processes, from root supply through production to packing and labeling – along with its special grind, large assortment of horseradish and horseradish-based condiment options and the brand personality itself.
“There just aren’t many horseradish producers in North America who control all aspects of the value chain and, consequently, there aren’t many choices for retailers, food producers and foodservice clients looking for product at any level of scale,” says Healy.
The brand strongly believes in the future of horseradish across many industry sectors. As a superfood, the product still has unexplored potential in the healthy food category, in various seasonal and Holiday dishes, and as the next prime condiment.
